Valentine’s Day is coming. Girls everywhere are thinking of romance and guys are wondering which flowers will make their special girls happy. Or candy. Or whatever they hope will bring smiles. But Valentine’s Day isn’t only for the romantic couples. It can be fun for kids and old folks and all folks. Love comes in many flavors.

That made me remember stories shared with me in the past after I sent other Valentine newsletters. I shared these two stories then, but that’s been a few years ago. I think you’ll find them fun again even if you remember reading them before.
I had to love this one from Cathy since she says a dog was instrumental in helping her find first love. My husband wouldn’t say dogs helped our romance along. My dog kept trying to bite him every time he walked me to my door. Made goodnight kisses interesting. I loved that dog. LOL. But here’s Cathy’s story.
How about a story of first love between two old folks (late 50’s). A dog introduced me to my husband when she was given to my neighbor, his father. She barked at me so much I HAD to make friends with her. Anyway, we were both died in the wool bachelors and had no intention of ever getting married. God had different plans, I guess. After several years (I was already in love with him) he had an epiphany after two rounds of surgery and decided I might kinda like him and he should to do something about it. Needless to say, we’re now mid-60’s and don’t know why it took so long to find each other.
And here’s a story from Linda that might make you laugh. It did me because I could imagine my husband doing the same thing. Here’s Linda’s story.
My youngest daughter went with her dad to buy candy for Valentine’s Day at a well known home-made candy shop. She said he was so pleased with himself when he found a beautiful “Valentine Box” he liked for around $20.00 that he took up to the counter as my gift. When they asked what chocolates he wanted in it, he told them to fill it up with an assortment of chocolates – and believe me they filled it up. He had his $20.00 out to pay for the gift, but things started to change when they took the box of chocolates over to the scale to weigh. Needless to say, the $20.00 was for the empty box, without the chocolates in it. My daughter said the look on his face was priceless when they told him how much the box was with the chocolates. He had to put the $20 bill back in his wallet and get out his credit card. When I received the gift on Valentine’s day (before I knew what happened), I told him how it was the best chocolate I had ever received. Truly delicious!! Of course he told me it should be . . . . We all still laugh about it and although he has asked if I would like more chocolates from this store, I’ve declined. I don’t think I could ever enjoy another box of chocolates from that store as much as I did on that Valentines Day.
Hope you enjoyed the stories and that you have your own special stories of sweet moments on Valentine’s Day whether with a spouse, friend, child or grandchild or maybe one of those furry friends. Pets can give plenty of love too although they aren’t too good at buying chocolates.
