What a week so far! An Appalachian Summer officially released yesterday, June 30th. As I said in my last post, it is always, always fun having a new book out for readers. Then it can be a little tense waiting to see what those readers are going to say about the story. So far the reviews and comments have been very nice. I appreciate each of you who may have sent one of those comments or perhaps posted a review or just shared some encouraging words with me. You’re the best.
Yesterday, release day, things were pretty calm. While it would have been more fun to have a book signing or a release party, I had to pass those fun things up due to the COVID-19 worries. I wouldn’t want to have an event where somebody caught the virus. Better to be careful. So instead, I went for a walk with the dogs, cleaned a little on the house (very little), and worked on stringing up the pole beans out in the garden. That sounds really exciting, doesn’t it? Okay, so not so exciting, but let me assure you it was very hot.
But while I was busy out there sweating, things were happening in here on the internet. I was getting replys from my newsletter with people entering in my giveaway. You all were responding to my giveaway here. I did draw out a lucky number and that number matched up with Sandi Keaton-Wilson. Sandi, I sent you an e-mail so check your messages to claim your prize. And then today I was away from my computer most of the day (that does happen now and then) and my e-mail blew up with all sorts of fun going on about my book. I might overwhelm you if I try to share it all. But before we move on to mystery photo fun, here are a couple of the fun notices I got today.
First, my publishers, Revell Books are having a Summer Reading Challenge. Now, that’s the kind of challenge I like. Oh, to spend the summer reading. But to help you and all of us with that challenge, they have teamed up with Baker Book House to offer some books you might read in this challenge with a 40% discount. You can check out the Reading Challenge link, to see which discounted books you might like to read. One of them is my recent Shaker book, The Refuge. So, this is a great time to grab it for a great price.
And here is the link to one of my interviews today. This one is with Fresh Fiction and I get to talk about my book and about my writing journey too.
Now to the New Giveaway – Mystery Photo Time
I know many of you enjoy my mystery photo games. I have to admit it does strain my brain to come up with pictures I think might trick at least some of you. Not sure whether the picture up top is a picture with mysterious vibes, but I’m hoping it might be. I’ll pick a couple of winners who will get one of my books (winner’s choice) and a grab bag book by a different author you will surely also love. Or I have been known to let the winner choose two of my books. Deadline for entries will be July 18, 2020 at 12 midnight.
Each time you guess on a new mystery photo you will get an entry. You can get your kids to help, but to enter you must be at least 18 years old. Guesses don’t have to be right. I prefer every mystery not be solved too easily. If you don’t have a guess, you can just say you don’t know and still get an entry in the drawing for the books. But it is fun to guess. And of course it’s more fun it you make your guess before you read any other guesses which might take the mystery out of the mystery photo. I’ll reveal the entire picture of this mystery photo Sunday and post a new mystery photo then. So let’s have some fun.
Thanks for reading and I hope you’ll play my mystery photo game. I’ll add some of the links to my interviews and more on my News & Events page. As I said, not many events, but some of these posts and interviews are neat. Many thanks to Susan for the lovely graphic below.
So what do you think this mystery photo up top is?
