About ten years ago a neighbor’s dog decided our garage was the perfect place to have puppies. The granddaughters had great fun with the puppies before I found a way to give them all away. I guess since they were in my garage they became my puppies. They were very cute. But it wasn’t something I wanted repeated every year or twice a year. The mama dog did stop having pups and so years went by without puppies for the grandgirls to play with. Then my oldest granddaughter here adopted a dog from a county humane shelter. They didn’t bother telling her that the dog could be going to have pups since she’d been picked up as a stray along with four other dogs, some males. But sure enough, not many weeks later it became evident that pups were on the way. My granddaughter who hopes to be a vet someday suddenly had a mama dog and six little pups. So it was fun with puppies time again. The puppies have all found homes and are simply waiting to be old enough to go to those new places. Meanwhile, sometimes the girls have a puppy party out in the yard just the same as they did back years ago when I had puppies in my yard.
Puppies are cute. My last three dogs have been past the puppy stage when I got them. Oscar and Frankie were both strays that we thought might be a year old. Actually they were both about 8 or 9 months old since they grew a lot more after we got them. And then Marley was 8 years old when I got him. But I have had puppies and once I picked a puppy out of a little of 12 or 13 and got a great dog.
Have you ever had a puppy of your own? Maybe were able to pick your favorite out of a litter of pups?
Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy puppy pictures. Sunday I’ll start a giveaway game for my book, An Appalachian Summer, that releases next Tuesday, June 30th. Maybe I’ll come up with some mystery pictures. That’s always fun.
