Happy Mother’s Day Week

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you. I’m a day late but then lately I seem to be at least a day late on most everything. The weekend was busy with a visit to the garden center to buy some new plants. Now if it will just warm up enough to plant some of those blooms. We could have frost again tonight. The dogs and I walked earlier and I was wishing for a coat. I took off outside thinking it was May and a sweater would be fine. Not! But the dogs stayed plenty warm.

I missed posting last night, so I’m sharing the reason I can celebrate Mother’s Day on this day after Mother’s Day.  That’s my beautiful kids who gave me the gift of being a mom. I’m so blessed with wonderful children who married wonderful spouses and have the most beautiful children in the world. A grandmother can think that. But I’m sharing my three children’s pictures. The ones with my sons were actually taken on a Mother’s Day weekend in the past. My youngest son usually comes and goes to church with me on Mother’s Day. Of course, that didn’t happen this year. And the picture of my daughter and I were in the spring one year when I was visiting her.

I came across this list of kitchen signs sometime this week and hope it will give you moms some smiles. Whether you are a mom or not, we can all be very thankful for our own moms. I had a super mother. I know many of you did too.

Signs in a Kitchen

1. So this isn’t Home Sweet Home … Adjust!
2. Martha Stewart doesn’t live here!!
3. Ring bell for maid service. If no answer, do it yourself!
4. I clean house every other day. Today is the other day.
5. If you write in the dust, please don’t date it!
6. I would cook dinner but I can’t find the can opener!
7. My house was clean last week, too bad you missed it!
8. I came, I saw, I decided to order take out.
9. If you don’t like my standards of cooking …lower your standards.
10. Although you’ll find our house a mess, Come in, sit down, converse.
11. It doesn’t always look like this: Some days it’s even worse.
12. A messy kitchen is a happy kitchen, and this kitchen is delirious.
13. A balanced diet is a cookie in each hand!
14. Thou shalt not weigh more than thy refrigerator.
15. Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they shall never cease to be amused.
16. Countless number of people have eaten in this kitchen and gone on to lead normal lives.
17. My next house will have no kitchen … just vending machines.
18. I’d live life in the fast lane, but I am married to a speed bump.

Number 10 and 15 are my favorites. I like the idea of not worrying about what the house looks like as much as worrying about the joy of having visits. Right now, most of us would like to enjoy that kind of joy again. We look forward to a return to visits and hugs and smiles we don’t have to hide with masks.

Which of these did you like?

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you had plenty of smiles on Mother’s Day.
