Above is picture number 2 just waiting for your clever captions. Thanks to all of you who suggested captions for Sunday’s picture of the kids and the horse. Many of you thought the horse might be wishing the kids had something a bit more appetizing to offer. Debra said it well. “Where’s the apple?” Marji had the poor horse wanting an apple too, while others could see that horse wanted some real food. Evelyn knew what horses like with her caption about oats. And Emily had the horse thinking about licorice and tootsie rolls instead of grass. I do know that some horses are very fond of peppermints.
Plenty of love went into your captions too with the horse loving his little human friends and the little human friends loving the horse. Lisa had the girl in the sweater with a horse on it measuring how many hands the horse might be. Janice came up with a horse toothpick and I have to admit the stalk the boy is offering the horse looks like it could pick some teeth.
They were all good captions, but Lynda may have captured the moment with hers about there being mutual fascination and admiration between the kids and the horse. I always enjoy how creative you all are when we play these games. I hope you have some fun coming up with captions and that you’ll see what you can think up for the picture on this post.
It’s been sort of a disappointing day with events being canceled right and left. The Southern Kentucky Book Fest that was only days away was canceled. I can understand why. People would be handling a lot of the same books, but I feel bad for those who organized the event and have worked so hard on getting it all ready to go. Besides I love meeting all the readers in that part of the state. Now we have to wait for next year.
As a big basketball fan, I hate that they aren’t going to let fans attend the NCAA basketball tournament games. The fans add a lot to the games even if you’re like me and sitting at home watching. It will be strange for the players to play games with no fans other than family and reporters. You’ll be able to hear their shoes squeak on the floor and the balls bounce. Besides the strangeness of it all, there are all the businesses, airlines, hotels, restaurants, concession workers, etc. who are going to take a big financial hit. That may be the biggest fallout to all the cancellations.
Other events are being canceled too. Some at the last minute. My 10 year old granddaughter has been practicing for a play practically the whole school year. It was supposed to be tomorrow night. Canceled now even though no cases of the virus have been diagnosed in our town. There are eight cases here in Kentucky, however. So, who knows? Someone who has been exposed could be at some of these places.
Meanwhile back at the farm, things are going along about the same. Marley and Frankie are still begging for walks. Frankie is still barking at the coyotes at night and Marley is still snoring behind my chair as I write. It may be good that some of my events have been canceled. That means I’ll stay at home and write this book I need to write. I guess there’s some good sides to almost everything. Just think of the boost in sales of toilet paper. I heard that our Walmart’s shelves are empty in the toilet paper section. And Kroger put a limit on how much of some things like hand cleaner or cold and allergy medicine one person could buy. I just hope no one else gets sick with the COVID-19 virus here or anywhere else and that spring will spring and summer will have things back to normal here and all around the world.
