Is there anything cuter than kids with their laps full of puppies? This is a picture from reading friend, Sherri. When she got my newsletter several days ago, the picture of my sisters holding kittens made her remember a picture of her and her sister with a kitten. (posted on the left here) They must have had one sweet kitten to wear that doll dress without going crazy on them. Some cats would make you pay for attempting to turn it into a doll. I’m not sure if we ever tried to dress up a kitten, but I do remember trying to get them to take naps in a doll bed. Somehow they were never sleepy then. LOL. 
Thank, Sherri, for sharing your pictures with me and being willing to let me share them forward to make some smiles happen for those reading this post. Your picture made me remember this one of my granddaughters with their laps full of puppies.
I have a few more stories although most of these stories are told in words, not pictures. But sometimes we can make pictures with our words. I often think I should look around a little more inside my stories when I’m writing, but I don’t want to get tripped up on setting. So I tell a little and hope you can imagine a lot.
And when some of you send in your stories about your birthday fun and special times, you might only tell a little but I can see you smiling as you remember. Here are a few more birthday smiles.
Paula says, “My fave thing about my birthday (June 21), is that it is the longest day of the year, so I have more time to celebrate! Lol ”
Good thinking, Paula. Kay was right there with me on making a birthday last by celebrating through the month. Here’s how she and her family do it.
“Years ago, a family joke started because we never seemed to be able to celebrate the big day ON that particular day. Basically we decided that it was your birthday until someone else had one. Being from a small family, that usually meant you had a month or two to be “the big cheese.” Now it’s just hubby and I, and our birthdays are exactly 6 months apart. We now laugh about is it your time of the year or mine because in a tie the big cheese’s vote leans it to their favor. Hubby got smart this year and decided that our fur baby, Snickerdoodle, needed to have his time which means now hubby gets 6 months, but I only get 1 before Snickerdoodle takes over.”
I think you might need to renegotiate that one, Kay. Either that or get a new pet with a birthday the month after your husband’s!! 
Nancy makes us remember that sometimes the best way to celebrate a birthday is by sharing the fun. Here’s her birthday story.
The best birthday (at least one of them) is when I was at work (I work at a nursing home). My co-worker brought in a cake for me. Well…………all the elders were filled with complete & utter joy; knowing I was there on my birthday celebrating with “THEM.” To see the joy, laughter & fun they had….made it so special to me!!! So now, I choose to work on my birthday so that I can bring them more joy….laughter….and fun!!! (My husband & I can celebrate anytime….without it being on the actual day). #loving birthdays more & more #it’s all about making a difference
Then Joan softens my heart with this genuine message that does make us know how precious birthdays can be and how blessed we are to count up a good number of them.
My favorite thing about birthdays is how old I am getting! That may sound odd but when I was a child the doctor told my parents I wouldn’t live to be a teenager because of my heart. Actually, I was a grandmother before I had heart surgery and will be 79 on my next birthday.
